My Grown-Up Christmas List

It’s time for theStudio’s annual Christmas Carol blog train! I’m always excited to see what my fellow designers choose for their song and how they represent it in their kit. Links to their blogs are below my preview.
My inspiration came from one of my favorite Christmas songs. I first heard Amy Grant sing this, and I love her version. I also like this video from Kelly Clarkson because it includes the words so I can sing along.

This song is even more meaningful to me as I reflect back on 2017 and all the heartache and chaos many have experienced: from politics to natural disasters, to the increase in hate and violence here and abroad, to the loss of loved ones and the loneliness or suffering of others. The chorus to this song captures my positive, grown-up year-round list perfectly: “No more lives torn apart, that wars would never start, and time would heal all hearts. And everyone would have a friend, and right would always win, and love would never end. This is my grown-up Christmas list.”

My kit is intentionally not specific or literal to the words in the song, but I hope can be used to capture and record your memories beautifully. If interested, you can download my mini kit here (freebie link removed 1-5-2018).

Christmas Carol Blog Train

Welcome to theStudio’s annual Christmas Carol Blog Hop. Every year, theStudio designers gather together to “Sing Christmas Carols” to all of our members, customers, fans, and friends. It’s a way for us all to say Merry Christmas and a big thank you for being so supportive of us.

Each designer has chosen a Christmas carol and created a freebie around that song. This year, I chose “Still, Still, Still.” This was my favorite song all 3 years of high school at the Christmas concert. It was always the last song, and our choir director had us move from the stage and walk down the aisles in the auditorium for a close-up “surround sound” for the audience. The lights were dimmed, and we sang this a cappella. I still remember how beautifully peaceful and almost spiritual singing this song felt in that setting.

I wanted to share a link so you could hear this song. This one is a great arrangement – I can easily bust out the alto part with no problem! I must admit I would prefer all song-appropriate pictures instead of the cute family pictures that suddenly appear throughout. Black Friday Doorbusters

Happy “day after” Thanksgiving! We had a wonderful day yesterday with 41 family and friends packed into our home, with a bonus visit from 4 more later in the day. Kid Fun: Boys Kits

Let There Be Peace On Earth

It’s time for one of my favorite holiday traditions: theStudio’s annual Christmas Carol blog train! It’s always fun to see what my fellow designers choose for their song and how they represent it in their kit. Links to their blogs are below my preview.

The song I chose this year is not necessarily a Christmas song, but it’s one that is definitely on my mind and in my heart with all the craziness going on in the world today. This kit is also not my usual “style,” but I love how it came together and how it represents the beautiful song I chose: "Let There Be Peace on Earth." I found a YouTube video featuring Vince Gill singing with a wonderful slide show to go along with it. It starts with an ad; you can skip that after about 5 seconds. A Christ Centered Christmas ~ December 2015 LDS Blog Train

It’s been awhile since I’ve participated in a blog train and I’m excited to join in on this one celebrating my favorite holiday: Christmas! When I was the chorister in Primary, I looked forward to December and teaching/singing the song “Picture a Christmas.” I used cute clipart for each line of the song, similar to the elements in this kit, with the goal of helping the children see and understand the REAL picture and meaning of Christmas. General Conference ~ April 2015 LDS Blog Train

I have not participated in a blog train for a while, and I’ve really missed it. I got my rear-in-gear for this one not just because of the color palette, which I love, but also the theme. My mini kit was inspired by the Saturday morning talk given by Sister Linda K. Burton called “We’ll Ascend Together.” It was just the reminder I needed to treat not just my husband better, but also to lift and help him and all those I come in contact with. There’s No Place Like Home for the Holidays…

I have loved the song I chose since I first heard Perry Como’s version many, many years ago – followed some years later by the Carpenter’s. The words and sentiment of the song speak to my heart – “if you want to be happy in a million ways, for the holidays, you can’t beat home sweet home.” Christmas is easily my favorite holiday, filled with decorations and traditions – but most importantly, being surrounded by the people I love.

Mother Dear Kit ~ Revisited

In honor of Mother’s Day, I did a “do-over” of my “Mother Dear, I Love You So” kit, slightly changing a few of the colors and creating several new papers and elements. Here’s a preview of the main kit and an add-on that includes 12 all-new papers (6 patterned and 6 embossed), along with some coordinating elements. There’s a freebie pack below, too!

Joy to the World…

It’s time for theStudio’s annual Christmas Carol blog train! I’m always excited to see what my fellow designers choose for their song and how they represent it in their kit. Links to their blogs are below my preview.
My inspiration came from a beautiful tree I saw this year at the Festival of Trees. I loved the non-traditional colors and the big blocks spelling “JOY” under the tree. That’s what I felt when I saw this tree, and I chose a song that fills me with joy every time I sing/hear it: “Joy to the World.”
